About Indio

Deep, well drained soils formed in alluvium and lacustrine deposits derived from mixed sedimentary rock sources in the Salton Trough. Very fine sandy loam to silt loam texture throughout. Found on nearly level alluvial plains and fans, slopes of 0 to 2 percent.

K-factor values are sourced from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) SSURGO database.

California Distribution

One of the most productive soils of the Coachella and Imperial valleys, mapped in Riverside and Imperial counties. Named for the city of Indio. The silt-dominated texture is highly erodible by wind and water; requires careful irrigation management.
