About Wheatland

Moderately deep, well drained soils formed in alluvium from mixed granitic and metamorphic rock sources, overlying a claypan subsoil. Found on low terraces and alluvial fans at foothill margins, slopes of 2 to 15 percent.

K-factor values are sourced from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) SSURGO database.

California Distribution

Common in Yuba and Nevada counties at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills. The restrictive claypan causes seasonal waterlogging in lower horizons and limits crop rooting depth.
