About Mazourka

Moderately deep, well drained soils formed in alluvium derived from mixed metamorphic and granitic sources with a calcic horizon or duripan subsoil. Found on desert alluvial fans and bajadas at 3,500–6,000 ft elevation in the Great Basin.

California Distribution

Named for Mazourka Canyon in Inyo County. Mapped on the alluvial fans of the Owens Valley east side and the Inyo Mountains bajadas. Supports desert shrubland communities; used for limited range grazing.
